Bed "hogs"

"Hahaha. I have your bed. nanner nanner nanner." (This is one of the dog's bed.)

Look what I found in the far back corner of the cupboard in the laundry room. Okay you young vintage lovers - eat your heart out. LOL For those of you who don't know what this is, be glad you haven't had to use this. My arm used to get sooo tired. Hint: I use a spray bottle only when needed now instead of this.

Roughly from 1953 or 1954

On top of the world (about 2006?). (I am down in the bottom of one of those canyons.)

Hey! That looks like my house - dogs on beds, and not their own! I love it! I love old vintage items - and I do know what that was used for, my arm used to get tired too. Spray bottles are much better. I love the sweaters - you hit jackpot somewhere, adorable! I'd be in the bottom of a canyon too, because I hate heights - Blessings, Barb

Love that last one especially! What a great pic...do you regret being in the canyon?

I remember those bottles or those shaker tops. (I don't actually remember the bottle.) All laundry was brought in from the line and given a good shaking and rolled until the next day, which was ironing day. Today, I only have one chore day...Saturday is bed-changing day.

Barb - the sweater was in Mom's cedar chest. I know it came from my cousins as a hand-me-down. I remember that day, because real cowboy boots came, too!

Barb and Vee - I'd have been there, but there wasn't room in the car for another person. I let the kids go that hadn't been there before.

I don't like heights, either, I just stay away from the edges.

Oh my I still have my mothers shaker some where here in the house and I remember her using it and I even used it. I do not like heights so like you I would stay at the base of a mountain. Have a good day. Madeline

That used to be our house until we had to ban all pets from the bedroom.
If you hadn't said that bottle was found in the laundry room I probably wouldn't have known what it was - at least the top part anyway. But I figured it out. ;) I've never actually seen one in person before.
That photo looks like they're dangerously close to the edge, one step backward and whoopsy-daisy!

Gingerella- I think the tops are still available in "specialty" stores.

Also, the other side of the rocks isn't quite as bad as it looks. Thank goodness or I'd have had a heart attack.

Dog not allowed on bed but cat is LOL

Gorgeous dog and cat pics. I don't recognise the bottle.
I love your blog title by the way.

Ironing is one of my least favorite thing to do unless it's fabric for a sewing project.

Emily got her stitches out Friday. It is still healing. It's looking good. Just trying to keep her safe from little brothers.

Thank you for your concern and kind words to her. I know she appreciates it.

For those who don't know about the bottle. Nehi was a soda pop company that became part of Royal Crown (RC) Cola company. It is now part of Dr Pepper Snapple Group (source: Wikipedia). Orange and grape are the flavors I remember most. Wasn't it Radar on M*A*S*H who always asked for a grape Nehi when he was really upset?

The top piece is a cork wrapped aluminum(?) gadget with small holes in the top. The bottle was filled with water. We used this to sprinkle the clothes and linens that were to be ironed. After sprinkling the clothes were rolled up tight so that they would be damp. If we couldn't get the ironing done the day they were sprinkled, the clothes were put in the refrigerator to keep them from drying out and/or mildewing.

Oh gosh, my mother had one of those shaker caps to put in bottles for damping laundry.

Thank God for steam irons!
