Whoopie Ti Yi Yo

I am still thrilled when I see cows (and sheep) being moved from one pasture to another. I know that this is so rare now and could stop happening at any time so I soak up every second watching the cows go by.

Cows. Lots of cows. This, of course, is only a few of them. Some have already gone by, and there are a whole lot more behind these. Black, white, black and white, red, red and white, gray, brown - big mommas, yearlings, and this year's babies.

Owner of the cows. (Too cold to wear a cowboy hat.) No, that isn't an outhouse behind the horse. It's a pump house. Everyone irrigates out of the river which is just over the bank beyond the cows and pump house. (There used to be an outhouse just down the road to the left and up away from the river. It was on my cousins' property, and we used it when the power was out. It was kind of a scary hike when it was cold and dark.)

See the two Ponderosa pines (aka yellow pine) on either side of the driveway? My husband planted those the year we got married, actually before we were even engaged. They were about 6 inches tall then.

There goes the first batch. I so wanted to walk with them and really, there was no reason why I couldn't have - except that I was freezing.

Update two: I took out the song. It was covering a picture. Here is the link if you would like to listen to Whoopee TI YI YO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tJGz7lAmYs&feature=related

UPDATED: I was experiencing technical difficulties. Or, should I say that I was the technical difficulty? LOL
Either way, my camera didn't take all the pictures I thought it did, or some didn't download, or they were lost in the download.
Adobe Photoshop was misbehaving - as in not saving the pictures after I adjusted the size and renamed them. Luckily, the pictures are still on the camera. I HOPE.
And,the Internet connection was extremely slow.
I also had a video clip to share, but I couldn't (can't) figure out how to get it on here without signing my life away.

So this is what you get tonight. :)

What great photos! Is that snow on the mountain in the last photo? Lucky! :)

Yesterday when I was bringing the kids home from school, the cows and the calves were RUNNING! Seriously, all get out running. I had to laugh cuz I never see cows actually running. Apparently, the farmer was bringing them some hay or something because he was out there with a truck and trailer. Guess cows like treats too. The calves were so funny though, out pacing the cows by a league. :)

Yes, that is snow. Yesterday was soooo cold. The wind was just bitter. It is probably 20 degrees warmer today and that snow is almost gone. It will be back all too soon, though.

Cows are smarter than we tend to give them credit for. When they are used to being fed, they will gather at the feeding area waiting for their meal. They know when it is supper time!

Needless to say, I've never seen such a sight.

Snow. Ugh... Not here. Not yet anyway.

Thank you for commenting on my last post. I am so upset with this new mammogram advice from the government. And my daughter [breast cancer survivor] is too.

At least you have snow. Here it is bitter cold and raining. Love the Ponderosa pines!

It reminds me so much of a couple of times we had in New Zealand when we were driving along and got stopped by a whole bunch of animals being moved. I think I've only experienced that in America one other time. :) I'm too much of a suburbanite, I think, to experience it much more than that.

What a an unusual treat to see all that action. I loved hearing about the Ponderosa Pines that were planted when you were engaged. My late husband's family drove from WA to NM for our wedding and they stopped & dug up a yucca plant & brought it home to plant. It's huge- almost 44 years old. They could have had a serious problem- it's the NM state flower & there was a heckuva fine fro digging them up. THAT would have made a nice memory for the in-laws.

I envy the scenery where you live and wish I could watch cows go by instead of people walking or driving by :)
